Locksmithing is not a mystery. It's a combination of mechanical
and/or electronic techniques that create a desired outcome. It takes
years of experience to master all of the varied aspects of locksmithing,
and since Ray, Danny, Jack and I have been doing this for over 20 years (time
sure flies when you're having fun!), we certainly have seen a lot!
Rekeying and masterkeying locks will create a new configuration within the lock
cylinder allowing it to operate with a different key.
Feel free to contact us by phone or e-mail if you have questions.
- Rekeying

Did you know most locks in your home or business can be rekeyed?
It's usually not necessary to replace the locks you have if you're
concerned that a previous tenant or owner might have a key to your lock;
we can simply disassemble the lock and set it to a new key
configuration. When the lock is put back on your door, you have the
same lock but it uses a different, unique key. This work can be
performed at your location, or you can remove the lock and bring it to one
of our stores. It takes only minutes and costs little to have the
peace of mind of knowing old keys that used to operate your locks now
won't work!
The same applies for most automotive locks. With a few exceptions, your
ignition, door and trunk locks can be removed and rekeyed to a different, unique
key. Since this work does take a little time, it's best to schedule it in
advance. Our 66th Street store is equipped to handle most makes and models
of automotive locks. Call us and schedule a day when you can drop off your
car in the morning; we can usually have it back to you by day's end.

- Masterkeying
-
Most locks can be masterkeyed so one key, your grand master key, will
operate all the locks, and separate keys, your change keys, can operate one or
more locks in the masterkey system. Masterkey systems can be simple or
complex; it is often necessary for sets of locks to work on one change key, and
not others, or sets of change keys to operate different locks within a system;
masterkey systems can be single level or multi-level. Whatever your needs
are, we can custom design a masterkey system to fit your needs. Our
systems are computer generated, and we can maintain your masterkey system so
future changes can be added when needed.
This work can be done on site or at one of our shops. For more
information, call us at 727-384-2022, or send your e-mail to gary@securitylockandsafe.com.
